Object Shortcuts

A shortcut to an object can be created in one of two ways, either through the pop-up menu (right mouse-click on the object in the Knowledge Explorer) or through right mouse-click / dragging the object in the Knowledge Explorer to the Knowledge Module where the shortcut is required.

Once a shortcut is defined in a Knowledge Module, other objects such as Trees, Dialogs and Hierarchies can use it.

Note that a shortcut in itself does not cause the run time value to be shared when chaining between Knowledge Modules. The object (or the shortcut to it) must be added to the "Exposed Objects" list of the Knowledge Modules wishing to share its value at runtime.

While any number of shortcuts can be created from a single object, shortcuts cannot be made to other shortcuts. Also a shortcut cannot be made in the same Knowledge Module as the object itself.

Shortcuts should not be made to objects that are derived from a shortcut to a Base Class. This will result in an error message when the Knowledge Module containing such objects is "Cut" (also when Run or when you Export Knowledge Module).

In addition shortcuts should not be made to objects which have a live link to a database table.
